Silverstone safety cars early 90s

Postby mettersl » Sun Jul 23, 2017 10:48 pm

IMG_0504.JPG
Hi everyone,
I have had an unsuccessful rummage around here, to no avail.
Does anyone know the identity and whereabouts of the A610 s that were safest cars at Silverstone in the early 90s. These are both yellow rhd cars, and whilst renault had a couple in yellow I'm curious as to which of the many these were.
There was a Facebook post today with a picture of one, but this picture shows two cars.
No reg plates, but I guess someone here must own them or know their identities and fate?

There is another picture of one of those on the start line somewhere.

I don't think anyone knows to be honest. Obvious to say but without reg plates it's going to be difficult. Tim Jeffrey posted the picture up of it so he may know something....

The only other person would be someone who worked for Renault and supplied the cars for the event.

One is a later car so you could possibly narrow that down to a Yellow early 94 car. However it could be an Early 610 fitted with the banana wheels..........

Well, here's hoping...
Mine is en ex Renault press car and I think Johns is too...both now have spider/banana wheels (although mine has them in the press article too).
Does anyone know when the wheel style changed during sale?
I used to prefer the spyder wheels, now I think I have changed to preferring the earlier ones.
You can see why I'm interested in knowing ....a set of those graphics would cover the paint defects too, but I don't think the yellow lights would do much for the appearance.

What year was the press article on your car Lee with the spider wheels on?

My car is chassis number 1 when they went to a dedicated RHD chassis numbering and was built in mid 93 (not registered until late 94) and has always worn spider wheels. So I guess mine was the first or one of the first to have them fitted.

I take it back...in the article it has turbine wheels, July 1992, now definitely on sypder ones, I don't think my eyesight is that bad to get that wrong.

Is the photo above taken at the 92 Grand Prix ? (or the 93 ?)
The last paras mention 94 prices... and it mentions the grand Prix last July...which could be 92 or 93...

The uk 610 register has the manufacturer dates and colours..so if 92 it reduces the possibilities to a handful of (known) cars.. If 93 then that introduces a bunch more...

Is the list available on line?
Simon does the GTA list, wasn't Phildini doing the 610 one.
I believe Stephen has the remaining rhd numbering plaques, doesn't he?

Found it, thanks...
Looks like it might need some ownership, details updating....I still have my red 610 too on this list...I guess that's the nature of ownership lists.
Thanks
