I changed to Hagerty for both the cars at the last renewal. I'd previously been with Lancaster for many years and when I submitted photos, at the time of renewal for the agreed valuation, a problem arose for the A110.
Because of the major restoration I'm doing, at the time of renewal I had a bare body shell just back from the painter and a large stack of restored or new parts. I sent Lancaster photos of all the major items. A letter from Lancaster then advised that they were cancelling the insurance because the car was less than 90% complete! I did suggest to them that restoration work was something commonly associated with classic cars but it fell on deaf ears. Surprising as they call themselves classic car insurance specialists. As a result of the cancellation I had to look elsewhere and chose Hagerty because they didn't have any problem in insuring a dismantled car.
To make matters worst with Lancaster, the policy for the A110 had only been renewed a month before the photos were sent and, as they'd cancelled the policy, I thought I'd be due a refund. They, however, applied a cancellation charge without any justification, which cancelled out any refund. I obviously questioned this bit didn't get anywhere. By this time I didn't want to waste any more time with them so cancelled the insurance for the A310 also, both cars now being with Hagerty.
