Heres an argument, say you are allowed a slatted panel like on that Lotus, then there is no reason why the slatted panel could be made out of GRP or PLASTIC!, and then there is no reason why the plastic could be clear instead of black.... and who's to say the 'slats' can't almost line up with each other so the hatch is almost dead flat....so.....see what im getting at...

Im on your side, no reason why a Lotus owner can't ditch his rear glass and go for slats as the later cars had it...

Lee, I was only trying to be helpful.....you will find that most classes at events have more than 3 entries and I know its still fun to turn up and get a time, but its a hell of a lot more fun if you arent so far off the pace and you actually feel like youre competing....and the difference between the two could well be a glass rear window and a plastic one. Either way you ought to try it......there is nothing like the thrill of the light going green As for winning.....trust me it gets addictive! I didnt win a bean for 3 years but once I'd got the first one under my belt I needed more....a bit like drugs I suppose!!!

I know Peter It was just a little query, we'll see if it stands up to scrutiny I think the prep/mods/ideas are half the fun with these things anyway

I'm with Peter on this, even though at a sprint/hillclimb event you usually only get about 4 runs (2 practice and 2 timed) there is much more purpose to the driving than at a trackday... This is my feeling anyway. Even if you're not competitive in class it doesn't matter as long as you can knock another tenth off your last time. If you can top three then all the better.
With trackdays I just get bored, fun for a few laps granted, but there's just no point in it except to drive a bit quick reasonably safely. Once you have times and competition it focuses your brain a bit more on what you are doing.
I'll be getting my gloves and helmet out again for a few this year for sure.
Might even pop over to Lydden, one of my favorite tracks. Long way from Plymouth tho!

Yes, playing with your car and set up to go quicker are very absorbing!

Too much! You will get so much more pleasure and adrenalin out of 10minutes track time on a speed event. Ask any of the people on the forum that have done it.
