Yes I'm still a definite.

Pity about the hill climb Andrew, but great work anyway! Thanks for your efforts. Would still be cool to do it at a later time. :D

I've just received an E-mail from the facilities manager of Ffestiniog Hydro-electric, who sends his apologies as we can not longer have this particular run as there is maintanence work at the dam until mid September, but we can have it after then if we still want it.

He has offered another run up to Marchlyn Dam, again on a private road. I will check this out over the next few days.

Sorry folks, but maybe we can do Ffestiniog later in the year.

That looks fantastic 8) it has to be driven  .

Do they only do the £23.50 set menu in the evening?

Is there a 'bar' menu as well?

Fish & chips would do for me

You have got no class Stephen  I think they do an early bird for £15 for when we will be arriving at around 5-6pm.

It's up to you guys, maybe just a pub meal if you want, I'm easy. Although we will probably be stopping for lunch at a pub along the way..

Anyone else have any preference on grub?

Juzz - PM'd Andrew for the route, he is very secretive about it though

No fair point Steve. Just realised that Portmeirion will be closed at 5.30pm so there is no real point in finishing there to be honest.

I can recommend this pub as very good food, service and value for money. Also has that all important Fish and Chips :D .It's also a hotel which could be useful for people staying over. Big car park from memory:

Andrew - Could we re-jig the route to end here at all? It's about 20 mins from Porthmadog.

Wow, does the whole town close?

Will we still get a chance to look round earlier, for afternoon tea maybe!!

Looks like it's almost a private resort, with one hotel and few guesthouses, is that right?

Cheapest accommodation for one night was around £200

By the way liking the menu at the Vic Inn :D

I can rehash the route so that we end up at Portmeirion at midday, approx. There is a small cafe within Portmeirion that does pizzas, panninis etc. (see Caffi Glas in Portmeirion website). This would allow us an hour or so to look around Portmeirion, for those who have never seen it, then we can continue the route up into the mountains, (suitably fortified!) I will get in touch with Martin to confirm. Andrew

btw - have i missed where we're starting and at what time

i'll pass on the little village - delievered there tooo many times and only went there a few months ago and (although i got in for free cos i know the guy) i didn't think it was worth the £7 to get - but maybe thats because i went there every week for the past 3 years! LOL

the vic's nice! had lunch there once with my truck parked on the road but at weekends police sit on the road from porthmadoc to llanbedr and also on the road from Barmouth to Dolgellau - so as to catch the holiday makers!

Sparkie from Rtoc hopes to tag along with me if thats ok, hopefully his Turbo 2 will be up and running but if not he'll prob be in his gtt

and i think i've got the Mrs' megane sport so i don't have to come in the banzai warrior! LOL

anyway - martin if u can let me know where and when - i'll be there, be nice to catch up

Moggy

p.s. - Roger is on holiday
and not sure on the small baldy guy! LOL

OK, so that's lunch at Portmeiron instead of Ffestiniog now the hill climbs out.

Menu looks reasonable :D

Andrew, can you let me know when you have the 'final' version of the route and I'll try and do a bit of last minute promotion, via pm/email, to members only though to avoid a public advert.

Right we are meeting at St Asaph just off the A55 on Saturday 16th August at 10am. I'll leave Andrew to go through the route as I have trouble pronouncing the names let alone spell them!
