It can't be a cheap hose to make. The Samco version is a frightening £190+VAT and their hoses are often cheaper than the OEM versions.

The oem one must be quite heat resistant to the manifolds. When you think Simons aged silicone pipe has collapsed, yet the original ones don't.....

Looking at it, either the tooling is complex and was therefore expensive or the moulding process is labour intensive .Take your pick ,but the moulded component itself ,even in a high temp material will be 3-5£s in material costs  so £115 does seem a tad spenny

I've discussed with SAMCO re the A610 already at the motorposrt trade day.

To make a pipe with unusual curve or intlet/outlet, they ahve to machine a steel former for the internals. Each pipe connection is another machined section which is assembled in a jig to meet up internally.

So for "specials" they ahve to design and then machine the internal fillers AND a jig. £1500 setup was pretty average they said !!! So if they sell 10 then that's £150 PER PIPE just for the setup costs never mind the manufacturing and profit :( Sell a hundred and it's only 15 quid, so it's always goign to hurt for A610 pipes. Maybe with the GTAs you can drum up enough firm orders around Europe to go ahead with plans.

Samco will be having a man with a roll of tape wrapping a tube, round and round and round and etc, so I can understand why they cost a lot but not how they can justify £190  Still my new intercooler pipes do look the dog's dangleys  8)
