Not forgotten about the timing cover gasket. I've contacted the seller a couple of times and he still needs to search his stock. Keeps giving me a revised, later, date. I think he has boxes full of parts and gasket sets and, basically, needs to sort out what's there. I'll keep contacting him.

Hi John , keep on at him as I'm sure we could all do with any stock he has .
I have found some good quality Elring in the meantime as have a few lumps waiting and need sealing up .

Those Elring gaskets look to be good quality.
I'll give the Ebay guy a reminder again, just hope he has more than the sets I bought.

Looking very tidy indeed. Good work.

In the US at the moment... good to see some Euro car action...
The car based entertainment here is limited...ranged from funny car racing on the telly last night....to a visit to a tesla showroom...that rear electric transmission in their model S would go nicely in a GTA..batteries up front..make a nice conversion (one for the future maybe).
First electric alpine eh?

An electric alpine would indeed perturb the purists....but those teslas are rear motored and knock out 400hp ....give it ten years when the technology is mass market...maybe a interesting (but boring sounding) conversion..

Near full torque from 0rpm, 1-4 moving parts and the possibility of programming 'virtual' diffs entirely in software? Yes please...

Didn't anyone else notice that the Renault Zoe (electric shopping trolley that it is) was very close to Simons GTA time at Prescott!
Everyone I know who has tried electric cars says one thing...they are quick, especially off the line.
The shape of things to come...if the Lib Dems get into power again...

more than 4 seconds in it Lee, hardly very close and it was driven by a pro driver. Almost like saying I was very close to FTD! The Drayson Lola at Goodwood would have been a better example.
never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.

Ok I'll let the facts correct a good story but it matched the Db2 and Mgb, albeit with en elderly professional driver. it ws quicker than most prewar stuff too.
Not bad for a shopping trolley.
I'd imagine a Tesla would be pretty competitive on its first run, assuming the batters didn't go flat in practice.....
Technology marches on......
