Yes you need lowering sprints on the front as the platform on the original damper is already at the bottom and the adjustable platform is bigger so no room for movement whereas on the rear there is a huge amount of adjustment. Otherwise it will sit slightly too high at the front as you may have noticed!
You can only really use the original front springs on the non-adjustable height version.

Adjustable Platform Dampers:
Front: Standard Spring NO Short spring YES
Rear: Standard Spring YES Short spring YES but un-necessary.
Fixed platform Dampers
Front: Standard Spring YES Short spring YES but be careful of amount
Rear: Standard Spring YES Short spring YES but be careful of amount
