Urgent GTA Turbo parts request!

Postby Juzzblack » Wed Dec 01, 2004 4:36 pm

My GTA Turbo is currently in pieces at a local garage having new cyclinder head gaskets fitted.

However, they are currently waiting on Renault, for the head gaskets, who as usual are being their usual propt selves for delivering parts.
:(

I need to obtain the head gasket sets, head bolts and the timing chain cover gaskets. Can anyone suggest where I might obtain these elsewhere more quickly, other than Renault?

Thanks.

Thanks for the swift response.

Actually, II should have said, I'm aware of mecaparts and simon-auto. Just wondered if anyone might have known of a more local uk supplier. I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that ARR, Prima and DG just probably got them from Renault.

I just phoned a local independent motor factors (CAW in Helsby, Cheshire) and was shocked to discover they can get the head gasket set and head bolts for next day! They might be struggling on the timing chain cover gasket though, so I might still try simon-auto for that.

Cheers again for the response.

Some of the patten head gaskets need 'working on'.
At ARR I saw a GTA with blown H/G where the previous gasket was missing half the water holes/slots. It was amazing that the thing had lasted so long.

The garage working on my car are long established and have a good reputation for excellent work so I'm confident they'll do the job properly and make sure the gaskets are up to the job before using them. Just as well. I've no choice but to be confident in them, now that they have my engine in bits! :)
