Workshop manual

Postby Jeremy » Mon Jun 25, 2018 5:21 pm

:GTA Hi all, I have just joined the club, as I have purchased an alpine gta turbo. It’s a 1989 model. Beginning to make a list of gremlins to be fixed, but need advice how to get hold of a comprehensive workshop manual. Any suggestions? Thanks jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

The manual your looking for is the M.R. 273 there used to be a few copies for sale on eBay at any one time for £40-50. It’s got all the basics with some wiring diagrams too but some can be a bit year of manufacture dependant. There some really knowlable people on here who can help with anything.

Which one did you buy?

What are the problems, there will be a thread on here somewhere about it!

Hi Jeremy...welcome, you are in the right place.
It’s not so straightforward on manuals as there are lots of different manuals for the car, but no equivalent from Haynes.
The most useful is the Renault official manual that covers the mechanics and the bodyshell...there are reprinted versions of this that come up from time tip time on eBay. MR273, This is what I use.
There used to be a download link for this electrically from the old website, that someone can send you too.(Vince can you let with this?). Otherwise googling mr273 you’ll find some copies on line on international alpine sites, but maybe not English versions.
There is a separate electrical wiring manual...these are year specific, so you’ll need to find a 1989 version, they come up from time to time on eBay ..but we are a helpful bunch and if you have an electrical problem, and this is likely, a search on this site will probabaly find you a thread. If there isn’t start a new topic and someone will post up a scan of the relevant pages for the problem area.
The engine, gearbox and injection systems are covered by separate manuals too, although routine maintenance is covered in the main manual, so you only need these for major work.
There is a Haynes Volvo 760/960 manual that covers prv engine overhaul too.
What condition is your car, are there some specific faults you are trying to fix?

Hi guys, Thanku for ur quick and informative replies. I have bought a 1989 gta turbo. Managed to source the mr273 manual this morning on eBay, and thanks for the heads up on the Volvo manual. I have had it just a week, and currently work so busy haven’t had much time to assess it fully... hopefully ramp this weekend. As usual , speedometer fault found, poor idle on starting, and some other electrical faults, at first glance. Replaced the rear window struts, easy fix but needed badly. Will read thru the speedo posts this weekend . Regards jeremy

For speedo faults JohnC is your man...search his posts and you will find a solution to all the known issues...with pictures. If those don't fix it, John will be very keen to help you get to the bottom of it (but TBH, you will fix it with Johns existing post and his support).
welcome...
