You have to wonder what goes through the marketing teams mind. Let’s take the 276bhp engine from the Megane 4 RS which sells for less than £30k. De tune it to 250bhp and stick in the Alpine and sell it for over £50k :Douh

Those extra few horses would have made all the difference.

And even if they do it later all anyone will remember is this for the sake of a bit of penny pinching...

I did say when Porsche updated the speck that they should remap the engine before launch it is not rocket science selling things, you have to keep up with the market you might have a strategy but the competitors will be looking to keep their advantage so you have to adapt. Porsche made a mistake by updating to early Renault had the opportunity to sort this out but missed the opportunity.
Big company political crap has now lost the front footing on the launch long way back now.

Well, at least Alpine remain consistent with engine fires :D I agree it was a bit disappointing when they mentioned they disappeared into nothing, I guess they were aiming at the A110 vs new A110 model alone. Plus, price is too high for power output, good news! in three years, I will be able to buy one for £10K, get it tuned and wwwoooossshhhhhh...... until the gearbox goes BANG!!

If they have any chance of regaining the ground lost they should say the new production model has had the final updates and upgrades, and the power has been increased to 285 or whatever, then they might then get a lot of retesting by the motor trade and hopefully correct this mistake.

Okay, so still not sure which is the correct pronunciation? Al-peen or Al-Pine?

Jean Remi, please confirm correct pronunciation for gods sake.
never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.

It’s “Alpine” like the mountain range so you can say it with a French accent if you like which some people insist on doing although they then still say “Renault” with an English accent rather than “RRuno” lol.

For some reason the journalists seem to have taken to “Alpeen” whereas like Clee says Jean Remi will tell you the middle sound should be shorter more like “Alpin”

If you say one with an accent then you’ve got to do both really. All cobblers as we are mostly English and no one goes round saying the other car manufacturers names with an appropriate accent...

I'll go for Catalan for maximum confusion with Alpina BMW

I don't say that I'm going to Pareee for the weekend, so I never use Alpeeen.
I am definitely warming to the Al-pin option over Alpine.
