A/C retro fit??

Postby GTAaspirations » Sun Jul 24, 2005 1:38 pm

With respect to the air conditioning issue. The Red GTA turbo I have to call a guy about, has Azev's, Koni's, grooved discs, greenstuff pads, but no air. Asking is 4,500.....

I have a friend out here who builds AC Cobra replicas, and has been around cars in all forms for years, I have to give him a call regards the a/c. I need a compressor(easy) a condensor, reciever/dryer, and the evaporatpor. The evap' is the ahrd part right? How difficult a job is it?
I know you guys have looked into this in-depth, but is it worth it for me to try another avenue and se how I go? He can only say no, right. I think he's a fairly sharp operator, as he was recounting how one fool wanted a Cobra with a soft/hard top and air...so he got it , for a price.

A/C problem sorted I think. :D
My mate, the guy who builds Cobra's (Venom Cobras) thinks it'd be fairly easy to adapt an a/c system to a GTA. ...thinks something japanese will fit. ..has heaps lying around...

I found another GTA on autotrader today, an '87 without a/c again, standard wheels, and suspension, with an engine rebuild by Alpine Racing(Dave G??). The price is the same a sthe '88 I found. 10K less miles too.
The 88 car has had a rebuilt g'box apparently, should I be worried about this?

After listening to the GTA turbo race sound file today at ART website, I think I'll get whatever I buy fitted with a sport muffler...WOWOWOW :P  What a horny note that car plays....almost convinced me 110% to get a GTA...as if I needed encouragement.
I think I just have to get in and do this and stop procrastinating
Are the diagnostic units a good thing to have. At 25 quid I don't think I could lose...and there are enough of us around Brisbane to get good use out of it!
Is there much of a market for second hand benuine mags?? The 88 car has a set included but I really have no space to store them, and I think I'd like a different set of wheels on the GTA, and sell the set it comes with to another GTA owner out here who wants a set.
I also think the Azev 'E's look the best I think.

Wish me luck...off to think about it.
Chris

Hahaha,
That makes me feel so much better. At least in a GTA I'll be able to flee the laughter!
