Public liability insurance for trackdays abroad

Postby bingham » Wed Jun 29, 2005 6:28 pm

Anybody know how to arrange this for a trackday in France? A group of us have hired a circuit but need to arrange liablity insurance and haven't a clue how to do it. We've met with gallic indifference when speaking to the circuit so far but I'm sure they will want to see it on the day. Any ideas at all would be welcomed.

On the noise front my GTA with Davids straight through pipe was measured at 103db at Knockhill at 4000rpm.

At hillclimbs its 105db and 108db (for single seaters) but track days tend to be stricter. At Barbon the noise tester man stood by and watched, never took a reading all day!!!!! Apparently at Elvington the guy said....ok rev to 2/3 of your maximum and then said 'fine' before they even started revving

The noise limit for trackdays varies with Bedford Autodrome and Goodwood being very quiet but it depends on whats been measured drive pasts, or stationary at 2/3 max rpm etc. This French circuit is vague saying that unsilenced exhausts 85-95 dB are forbidden but not mentioning how it's measured. 85 dB is about the noise level inside a normal car in traffic i.e. pretty quiet.

2/3 max rpm from 1metre away is the standard stationery test.......dont know what the moving test is but I know they conduct that kind of thing at track days.
