Depends on which Skyline.....the one most people think of in recent times is the R33 GTR.....which weighed in at over 1600kgs when tested by Autocar. Now thats fat! The problem with saying Skyline is that there have been innumerable Nissans with the label. A plasterer I met the other night has a rather puny 2 litre atmo 2wd one on an L plate....there is also a rather nasty k reg 2wd atmo 2.5 in battleship grey with autobox locally. Not the same thing as the R33 really!

Oh heck, I'm going to start removing bits of the A610 !!! Seriously I dont want to get into Skyline bashing or anything else bashing, its all personal. I am not right or necessarily wrong, It's just that it felt heavy, looked heavy and handled heavy but if my A610 is only 60kg lighter then it just shows how different it is in design. I worked on a Nissan 350Z last year and that was so well built as to embarrass most of the performance cars on the market. I am lucky in that through my work I have been able to drive all manner of exotic cars over the years and I ended up choosing my very nimble A610. I also drive 2 tonnes of Rover P5B Coupe and 1.5 tonnes of Volvo V70 2.5 turbo so there is no accounting for taste. Both those seriously push my buttons but in different ways. Cars are an emotional thing to us very logical males and my cars are chosen on how I feel about them. I lurv my A610. I had to divorce my Impreza, Pug 306 GTi 6 and countless others. Long lurv the Alpine. 8)

Every one has different ideas of whats good. I sponsor a Nissan drift team (Team D:MON) and a couple of the members have 400bhp S14 200sx on full Tein coilover suspension, polybushed, fully adjustable camber suspension..fully stripped out shell etc. Fully sorted.

I took them out in my GTA the other day...I didnt even have to drive it fast for them to appreciate how much better it handled and responded to driver input than they ever imagined their cars could ever be. I get used to the car, and only appreciate how good it is, when somebody in the tuning and racing circles is hanging on to the seat going, 'damn, this is good!'

Well said David. At the end of the day the Alpines are in a rarely understood league of their own. I was very surprised by a GTA that I used for a few days when they first came out in the UK in 1988. I knew they were special then but was only in a position to buy one now . Even today they are up with most of what is out there. Lets just appreciate them and make certain they are viable to keep in use.

Just been to have a look at the Burgundy Le Mans that is on e-bay at the moment. Very nice, very tempting. Someone should buy it and use it. I really must not get tempted, I have enough vehicles at the moment, but then again!!!!! :?

surely the case is too little space, I didn't think it was possible to have too many vehicles!

Now there is a true statement. I peaked many years ago at 13. Down to 5 personal cars plus 1 motor bike and 1 partner's car. They are all on the road bar 1 in mid restoration. 8)

I'm getting mine back 2moro! Took me nearly 6 weeks to get 10w-50 oil for it. The first time it got lost in the post (don't ask me how!), and I just got it at the weekend. Can't wait to get her out!
