Bailey Piston Type

Postby Tony Smith » Thu Jun 02, 2005 10:37 pm

Bailey do a very nice proper piston type stainless steel one. Can get either type. Stay away from the diaphram types they are usually unreliable

I installed a bailey dump valve, £90 (delivered from ART), recirculating type as it's better for performance and keeping the turbo boost available quicker. But you can just leave it's output side open to the atmosphere and enjoy the whooshing if you wish to.

It was only after instlling a calibrated boost gauge that it was clear that the old bosch diaphram dump valve was leaking.

You really need to look at the ARR and ART web-sites (in the links section).

I do an aftermarket stainless steel exhaust for the 610, its £495 but the sound is not much different from the original. Its mainly to be a high quality replacement. Doesn't remove the cat though. Cat replacement pipe is £125.00

ARR site down

Postby Tony Smith » Fri Jun 03, 2005 5:06 pm

The Alpine Renault Restoration site is down at the moment, I'm in the process of revamping the site and swapping ISP's. I know Paul does A610 exhausts and CAT replacements, give him a call if you want a price.

Hi ,
If you bought the A610 from E-bay in Dumfries, when you remove the CAT, you'll need to keep it for the MOT. I think that car was 1994 (L) and if the car is (I think) later than 1992 it will need the cat back on for the emissions test! So make sure you get an exhaust that allows you to refit it for the annual inspection.
Between times you'd need to be very unlucky to run into the mobile emissions test check points- most councils have stopped funding them- unless someone here knows better. There were scare stories in the press a couple of years ago, but I've not heard anything recently.
BTW what did you pay for the A610?

Cheers
Lee

It most likely that youve probably heard one of my race twin systems on the GTA. Ive done a prototype system similar on the A610, without the cat either, but it seem to affect the performance as much as on the GTA, as the turbo on the A610 is much, much larger and doesnt restrict the exhaust, and the sound at idle was much quieter due to the lower compression of the 3.0 engine..It was still nice and burbly though.. :D

Thats the one i bought and i know all about the Cat situation,i was just going to keep the one i take off and use it as required(mot and if i get pulled) Price wise i did'nt get it cheap considering the faults it has but TBH once i seen it nothing would have stopped me having it

If you put it up for sale I'll be at the front of the queue 8)
