I see your point guys, is it a bit like a formula race car car that is a space frame unit with all the track suspension etc and then just a clam over the top to give it some resemblance to a road car. Not really a car any longer.

OK not strictly a Kitcar ....but it ain't a GTA neither once that big lump goes in .I seem to remember having this argument with DG back in the day about that 21 engine conversion ...........
PRV rules OK .Must kick Martins' asp on BIG JIL Lump ..... :Ass_Kick

You lost that argument too then :D .Nothing has been changed body or chassis wise on the car except the engine, some items strengthened, but the rest of the car is less modified than JIL. DVLA says its a GTA, MSA regs say its a GTA, everyone I've spoke to says its a GTA. Half the modified cars in the country that have had engine changes fall into the same category.

MSA will call it a "Modified GTA" when the engine block is changed or the interior is removed, so long as you have a ROPS and FHR,
otherwise its not allowed.
And it will still need to meet the noise control levels...... even to do track work.

Something we can agree on, although I did like a few of the Guy Chambers penned songs from his first two albums. :D

Now we are talking. The classic light wt limited production only comes with engine management to maximise performance and to achieve emission compliance and ABS only option is A/C. :D

Sorry for my ignorance but what are ROPS (roll over protection ?) and FHR?

Or Frontal Head Restraints in MSA speak.

I don't think the GTA would qualify as modified for MSA. Think it has to go in Sports Libre. I looked this up before for Tony.

Common mistake, Sports Libra has a 90 cm max height which excludes most non race or sports cars.

Conversation is fluid in real life is it not ?

FFS there is little enough chatter on here as it is without it being shut down by the 'Man'

this is the new Alpine thread after all.... and Tony Smith has his own thread on the subject, perhaps another mod should split and merge it as its hardly promoting fluid conversation on the new Alpine.

Yes, ROPS is Roll Over Protection System, AKA Full Roll-cage.
FHR is Frontal Head Restraint, most common brands are HANS and Simpson devices.
Note how seemingly slow this car was going before it stopped dead.
Looks like driver hit his head on steering wheel........ includes slow motion too.

i imagine most on here are a little biased towards the new Alpine but it's causing quite a stir on Seloc (lotus) site, mostly pretty favourable bar the steering.
