I think that's a different car. The other one ran Azev wheels and was the standard red from memory, whereas that car looks like the Indian red I reckon.

Perhaps Prima just like to quote 300 bhp. Its a nice number if you can get it, but maybe just a bit inflated :roll:

Bogus claims!

Never believe any claimed power figures for a modded GTA without seeing the spec and some proof, I know from personal experience - and so does Peter G now, how hard it is to get good power out of these engines. Virtually every component would need to be changed to make 300 bhp. BBR used to claim 270-280 bhp for their conversion years ago and all they did was increase the boost pressure 3 psi! (About 220-225 bhp!). They should have spent some of their budget buying the right size/offset wheels for the car!

David has seen about the 300bhp mark with bolt on bits and cams.....remember the whole ignition advance debate??? Once his new ECU is up and running it should be acheivable. Admittedly the car in the ad seems unlikely to have 300bhp as it'll be on a standard ECU. Would be interested to see dyno sheets for it.

Here's the proof in the pudding that nigh on 300bhp is easier than you think...

This was a Lemans model with 8:1 compression, large T3 turbo, remapped ecu (only lemans model can be reprogrammed) and a set of the 270 cams that I have on my site. This car was running 1 bar of boost, as this is still the max the factory ecu can take.

286bhp and 310lb ft of torque. With the same cams on a 8:6.1 compression GTA, it made 330lb of torque at 3500rpm. Downside is it makes it a very cammy car..

Now even more gains could be made if you used one of my straight through exhausts and intake, as the car above was running a Devil system, which is hardly any better than standard,.. and proper aftermarket management to run more boost with better injectors.

It seems no matter what you do though, 300bhp is the limit of the manifolds whether it be a GTA, 610 or Venturi. Europa cup cars made no more than 290bhp, the 3.0 PRV as used on the Venturi and A610, only makes 281bhp with a remap and 1 bar of boost, but all engines make alot more torque..

It is a different car. That's Ben & Nat's Dad's car. Still very nice though.

Talking of 300BHP GTA's Peter G's new ranking refers to one of the rarest factory variants, the GTA Production saloon. 300+ BHP from the ATMO!!

Having a graph of a rolling road test isn't hard enough evidence to convince me I'm afraid, I have a graph for a 21 Turbo that recently came through my hands showing 256 bhp at 16 psi with only exhaust and inlet mods, I don't believe that either. But on the other hand my 2.6 Skyline engine puts out 315 at the wheels on 0.9 bar so 300bhp at the flywheel ought to be achievable from any 2.5 turbo engine if it has the right parts. It will interesting to see if my 3.0 litre lump can breach the 300bhp mark on the standard manifolds. If they really are that restrictive I may have to switch to twin turbos, but I'll see if they work on the track car first.

Tony, that plot is from Technomap, the firm that designed the original ecu maps for Renault for all of the Alpine models.

This was the configuration that Danielson were going to use on the Lemans models (Technomap did the Danielson software), but they stuck with the standard engine.

The other thing about this debate is that no one appears to have done any really serious work so far. Tony has bolted on a few bits and bobs years back before the straight though exhaust and bigger turbos available today (and mappable ECU) and Ive done similar. Previously when Ive done engines (crossflow, Alfa straight 4, Honda CBR, K series) Ive started by getting them lightened and balanced then had the head thoroughly worked and matched to the inlet and exhaust manifold, then sorted the fuelling and ignition....ideally with a mappable set up. It appears that no one's gone through these tried and tested methods yet....for obvious cost reasons....and Ive been in the same boat. There have to be some big gains from starting from scratch, and also Davids ECU (soon please!.....after the brakes obviously :wink: )
What has the guy at ARR been doing all these years? I get the impression he has gone for the odd engine swap but hasnt actually done much with the standard lump??

Surely someone has reworked the lump ,it's a very old piece of kit and been used all over .Just look at what the Aussies have done 8)
Anyone got a old lump spare for development puposes :lol: CLUB TESTBED :wink:
