Is it real or is it photoshop?

Looks real on first impression.

His previous items include a dragster and a well thumbed copy of 'Jet Aircraft Mechanic' so that would seem to add weight to the authenticity

Surely it must be photoshopped. There's a big hole for the gases to come out but no ducting for an intake so the air can get in.

Seems a popular thing to do over there....theyve got loads of long straight roads to do it on. A couple of years back there was a guy who strapped a small aircraft jet engine to his pickup in the US and took it out for its first drive. The local police were inundated with reports of a small aircraft crashing......actually it was pick up man discovering that he could neither steer nor brake once the engine had fired and ended up embedded in a hill at the first corner he came to.....very dead!

I think it was a small 'retro' rocket not a jet/turbine.
I've got the story somewhere... Dr Sodts law says I won't be able to find it again unless I'm not looking for it.

Darwin Award

Postby darrenbiggs » Thu Jul 14, 2005 8:10 am

The story of the jet powered car is here:

http://www.darwinawards.com/darwin/darwin1995-04.html

It's actually bogus (read the full article) which is a shame, but has such notoriety its become legend.

Oh well....there you go! The story below it about the servicemen in the jeep appears to be real, although its less amusing than the 'real' thing.
