Indeed you need to be careful with the pronunciation...an English friend of mine tried to tell a French man (stranger) she liked the pine trees (in French) He seemed confused and excited in equal measure by her forwardness.(she pronounced it peens not pins)

The other one to watch out for is the French for cat.. similar misunderstandings happen if you mess up the pronunciation.

And if you comment on a cat in the pine trees and mess up the sounds you can really perplex people.
(Ok ..off topic...but I think folk need some entertainment while waiting for their new cars to arrive)

I don't really see the point in pronouncing Alpine with a french accent unless you do the same with Renault and I don't hear many people going round saying Rrrrrno!

Or Jhay Tay Ay for that matter

Maybe I'll get Jean Remi to record it and we can all practice our pronounciation...

Bet it differs by region too.

Looks like Alpine need to up their game in the power department now the power to weight comparisons with the Cayman have gone out of the window.

It's taken them too long to bring this to market and everyone else is moving on already.

Out flanked by Porsche again, what shall I spend my £50,000 + on 250 hp or have an extra 100+Hp.
So now the goalposts have moved up in this market segment 350+Hp, so the next new Alpine should be an Rs with 380hp pumped out arches big wheels and also available in a drop head, and this time don't show all the pictures of the new car before hand just drop it on the market, you know the shape is a winner. But what do I know about it. :hang

Porsche were always going to bring out a GTS model - they always do - with a 15bhp (or so) horsepower boost and a few popular extras thrown in.

So I don't think Alpine have been "outflanked" by that. Fact of the matter is you can ignore 0-60mph times for fast cars 0-100 times are far more representative, and on that basis the Alpine is about as fast as the base 718, not the S. So the Alpine always did look pricey. Of course it may well turn out to be a better car despite its "lack" of performance - but it will have to be damn good to dent Porsche's sales.

I want the new alp to succeed believe me but I don't know if any have been delivered but l would be on the phone to the best engine mappers to try and get that unit up to 280/90.
Other wise the next one will undoubtedly have a lot more to keep up which would then make the value of the early cars well mack your own mind up.
I love the look of the new car, but now if You where going to spend your hard earned money on a new car what would you have?

Personally that wouldn't (or should I say won't) affect whether I confirm my order or not - as it it's fast enough for me. In any case more power will likely mean more turbo lag, and I don't want that.

All that said I'd agree that many will take a different view and, if that is likely to affect residuals (which it well might), I'd be inclined to keep my 981S

Totally agree have been saying it for a while, if you think about the Alpine journey by the time the cars have come out they have always been under powered. May l be bold and say the next one how about 400hp stop worrying about what general people will say true enthusiastic petrol heads like power, why is Amg so big.
