Postby rcalpine » Fri Sep 30, 2016 8:37 pm

Hi, does anyone know of an alternative supplier for a complete engine gasket set for an atmo apart from simonauto or mecaparts. Thanks Richard.

Depends on how much of a chance you want to take.
There are plenty of Volvo 760/960 gasket sets on eBay, it's the same engine, but you pays your money and takes your choice. bCA sets or similar of 60-80 on eBay,
On a turbo, a cheap gasket set is definitely a mistake, in an atmo, then let me know as I need to make the same choice, at the moment I'm leaning towards a German made set, as it's such lot of work if it blows.

Thanks, do you know if the simon auto gasket set is Payen.
A complete engine gasket set from him is about £205. I've seen a complete engine gasket set (volvo) on ebay being sold by the gasket shop for £63 !. Payen Head gaskets only are on ebay for about £35 each.
I'm going to phone round a few places next week.... I'll let you know how I get on, I'd like Payen if they do a complete engine gasket set for the atmo.

I don't think any of the gaskets in the set I bought from Simon, for my A310V6, were Payen.
1970 A110V85 and 1980 A310V6.

The gasket set from Simonauto includes the sump gasket, liner seals, front and rear oil seals and water pump gasket so looks like a fair bet. Can't find a complete Payen set. The Volvo set is £55 on there website.
