A610 in the wet!

Wow! The A610 lets go pretty easily in the wet, doesn't it?? I was very aware I needed to be careful, and I have been. I didn't realise just how careful I needed to be...

And it's ok - I haven't bent it. Yet!

I was in a straight line, in 2nd gear. Fed the throttle in gently. Full throttle accelerating nicely, then as the revs rose to around 4500 the back broke traction. No idea how fast I was going. 50-60? I suppose the torque must peak around that point?

The tyres on the car are new in terms of wear but I am not sure how to read the date codes on them. I hope they are new in terms of age too...

Can't wait to properly drive this car in the dry, but I know I need to build up to it very, very, very slowly...

It's fine, I was lucky and so was the car. It got fixed and resprayed and is now with a new owner.

Jason Black's wasn't though. In the dry you will be fine to hoof it and enjoy.

Make sure you have it set up on a 4 wheel alignment system, mine was way out when purchased, made a huge difference to stability. Pull need access to a shim set for the rear.
I only had your symptoms in bald tyres and snow after that...

In the dry, you will struggle to unsettle the car. it is a fabulous handling thing. In the wet, it does demand concentration and respect.

Told you Andrew, take it easy, these cars handle fantastic, much better than a Clio V6 for example, but when it lets go, it goes....
Tyres were purchased in 2009.

Still hold that an A610 with good rubber and aligned is ok in the wet too....if you can see out of the daft wipers and there isn't so much spray being dumped on top of such a low car.
I used Toyo t1-rs not the best wet weather tyre but still fine in my view. Grip is fine if you remember that you can't use lots of power an anything (esp rwd) if the weather is too bad. The front has only got 30%? of the weight so can get a bit light if you are silly.
Mine was only scary in the wet with bad tyres and poor alignment, but be realistic ....they are powerful,and will spin wheels on up changes in the dry.
In the snow is a different story, worst car I have ever driven on snowy roads....

The real benefit with cheapo rubber is that they're so hard that they'll polish up well for a show!

I had nankangs on the back of my atmo. They were 2nd hand in 2004...!!!
and I only replaced them a couple of years ago. (They came with the wheels)..they were durable if nothing else...and better than the ancient TRX tyres!!!
only had one proper tank slapper...an aquaplane... accelerating off a sliproad at about 50.... Almost a brown trouser moment. The rear suddenly let go and I wasn't really nailing it...it was wet though.
